About Us

The India Association of North Texas (IANT) is a 501(c) (3) Non-profit, non-political, non-sectarian organization,established in 1962 and incorporated in 1976. Its primary purpose is to serve the cultural and educational needs of the North Texas Indian community. IANT is an approved Federation of Indian Associations (FIA) umbrella organization in the DFW Area by the National Federation of Indian Associations. More than 100 Indian organizations are its Affiliate Members. IANT is governed by a fifteen member Board of Directors. Twelve of the directors are elected annually by the general body. The remaining three are nominated by the consul of delegates of associate member organization.

Our Objectives

  • To provide a common platform to all Asian Indian organizations and members living in the North Texas area for pursuing their common goals and sharing their concerns.
  • To promote, coordinate and support joint efforts in the social, cultural, educational and charitable activities of the
  • To provide civic and political education to the people of Asian Indian origin, encourage greater participation by them in public affairs and to enhance their contribution to the society at large.
  • To foster friendship and understanding between people of Asian Indian origin and other Americans.
  • To act as a spokesperson for the Asian Indian community and to function as an umbrella organization for all regional,social and service groups in the North Texas region.
  • To conduct and celebrate events which are important to the Asian Indian Community such as India’s Independence Day, Republic Day etc.

Indian Consular Camp


Yearly event held in October in partnership with Indus Golf as tribute to Mr. Iqbal “Iron Ike” Singh Sekhon, the founding President of India Association of North Texas.  Iron Ike was a Golf enthusiast and this tournament is in his memory where golfers that are beginners to advance; kids to adults; come together for fun, prizes and networking for a fun filled day of golf, followed by trophy presentations and a great lunch.

Celebrated to commemorate India’s republic day, the day on which the Constitution of India came into force. It is one of the three national holidays in India.
India Association of North Texas takes great pride in celebrating this holiday by showcasing the talents and cultural performances of over 800 children in the Dallas/Ft Worth metropolis.
India Day is a forum for children to learn about India and understand why this holiday is so important to India.
India Day allows the general community of the Dallas/Ft. Worth area to learn about India and its vast cultures and history

India Day


Celebrating India’s Independence.
Each year, India Association of North Texas celebrates this day by hosting an event which attracts over 20,000 visitors.
The event showcases over 90 Food and Non-Food Booths, where Asian Indian vendors showcase their business.
Kids of all ages enjoy the day in bounce houses, games, train ride etc.
The evening event showcases an entertainment act for the 20,000 + crowd to enjoy.
The finale of the evening is an amazing display of fireworks.

Anand Bazaar Independence Day Celebrations


A ‘Peace walk’ in memory of Mahatma Gandhi and his message of Peace and Non-Violence.
India Association of North Texas holds a peace walk in October as a memorial and reminder to the children of North Texas to showcase his message and beliefs.
The members of the IANT board and guests light candles in front of the Mahatma Gandhi Statue (Inaugurated in 2014).
Thousands show their support by taking a 5K walk and chanting the sayings of Mahatma Gandhi.

Women’s Forum

To provide opportunities through our activities for our young citizens to enhance their life skills and values. Bharati Magazine

The Bharati Magazine is published by the India Association of North Texas (IANT). It serves to keep the community informed about local, national & India news and community events. The magazine publicizes and promotes the activities of IANT and its associate member organizations. Ten issues are published annually for distribution to current members.


Radio Bharati

IANT’s Radio Bharati show has been on the air in the DFW Metropolis for over 18 years. Radio Bharati is hosted by Shabnam Modgil. It is formatted to broadcast a lively mix of music, community announcements, news and entertainment.

Broadcast live on 11:10AM, every Saturday from 10 am to 12 pm.
